The Key Academic Community is based on high standards for academic performance combined with the support and resources students need to succeed. With a limited number of spaces, we want to be sure that the Key Academic Community is a perfect fit for both the student participant and the program.

Benefits of participating in the Key Academic Community include:benefits

  • Co-registration for cluster classes
  • Group study opportunities
  • Feedback from faculty and mentors on your progress
  • Key Mentors as guides throughout the year
  • Familiar faces in your residence hall and classes
  • Living with a close-knit group of students who share the values of the community
  • Living on a Key floor in Braiden Hall (suite hall centrally located)
  • A fall and spring “Key Orientation” program just for Key students
  • Connections with faculty and staff
  • Leadership development programs on campus and in the community
  • Connection with resources and opportunities campus wide
  • Sharing high standards for achievement, an appreciation for diversity, and involvement in campus activities

In return, we ask that students who apply to the Key Academic Community make a commitment to the program.

Key Academic Community students are expected to: expectations

  • Strive for Academic excellence ;
  • Be actively involved in classes and campus activities;
  • Appreciate diversity;
  • Contribute positively, respectfully, and civilly to the Key Academic community of students, staff, and faculty;
  • Fully abide by residence hall and Colorado State University student conduct policies;
  • Be a positive representative of the Key Academic Community;
  • Live on the Key Academic Community floors in Braiden Hall;
  • Enroll in one of the Key Course Clusters;
  • Take part in at least one Key sponsored event or program per month for the academic year;
  • Move into Braiden Hall between 8:00am-12:00noon on Wednesday, August 20 to participate fully in Key Orientation(August 20-21, 2008); and
  • Attend the Spring Semester Key Kick Off
